Luxury giants jostle and waver over Armani acquisition
The death of the Italian designer on 4 September 2025, at the age of 91, triggered what was a planned move to attract new investors to the Italian brand. In his will, Giorgio Armani identified three potential candidates: luxury giant LVMH, beauty group L'Oréal, which already markets Armani fragrances, and eyewear manufacturer EssilorLuxottica, which produces his glasses. Yet the Milanese fashion house has lost some of its former prestige, leaving the three contenders cautious of making a move, yet worried should a rival seize the opportunity.
