The city council is quietly working to protect the interests of luxury retailers ahead of the opening next year of an underground rail connection between the extremely high-end shopping hub and the most deprived areas of Los Angeles.
The new Beverly Drive underground station at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Reeves Drive in the heart of Beverly Hills is not due to open until next spring, but the city council is already anticipating the consequences of the new metro rail connection that will connect the ultra-luxury hub of Rodeo Drive with deprived downtown areas of Los Angeles – not least Skid Row, which has America's largest concentration of homeless people and is ravaged by fentanyl abuse.
